Introduction
Lavers Hill is a small
township perched atop the Otway Ranges at the junction of the Great Ocean
Road and the Beech Forest and Turton's Track Roads. Surrounded by forest,
and adjacent to the Melba Gully State Park which is noted for its nightly
displays of glow-worms, it is a popular stop-over and touring centre for
the Great Ocean Road and the Port Campbell National Park.
Attractions
- 12 Apostles The
Twelve Apostles are one of Victoria's and Australia's most popular
landmark attractions. Situated along the Great Ocean Road and only 5
minutes drive from Port Campbell these large pillars of rock help form
some of Victoria's spectacular coastline.
- Cape Otway Lighthouse
The Cape Otway Lighhouse was built in 1848. It is one of two
lighthouses that guide ships into Bass Strait otherwise know as 'The
Needles Eye'.
- Fauna Australia
Wildlife Sanctuary Fauna Australia displays over 40 species, many
rare, endangered or simply unknown. Indoor Exhibits depict animals in
their natural environment. The reptile house includes crocodiles,
dragons, pythons, lizards frogs and tortoise. Our Nocturnal
Houses display some of Australia's rarest species. Feeding of
Kangaroos, wombat, emu and wallabies are included in the admission.
The Bird Enclosures include some of Australia's most popular and rare
birds.
- The Gables A rock
formation jutting out for the coastline that looks like a roof gable
from out at sea. Short walk to lookout with spectacular views along
the coast and out over the Southern Ocean.
- Wreck Beach The
name "Wreck Beach" derives from the visible signs, in the
form of anchors, of two ships wrecked along the beach, the "Marie
Gabrielle" in 1880 and the "Fiji" in 1891.
- Various Waterfalls such
as: Beauchamp Falls,
Hopetoun Falls, Johanna Falls, Little Aires Falls, Triplet Falls
